Survey Assistant

AKM Survey is looking for a motivated and reliable Survey Assistant to join our team. This is an entry-level opportunity for someone interested in building a career in the land surveying industry.

As a Survey Assistant, you will work closely with the Survey Party Chief and other members of the field team to support the successful completion of surveying projects. You will gain hands-on experience with surveying equipment, field procedures, measurements, and data collection while working on a variety of projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist the Survey Party Chief with daily field surveying activities
• Set up and operate surveying equipment under the direction of the Party Chief
• Assist with Total Stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, levels, data collectors, and related instruments
• Assist with measurements, observations, and field data collection
• Help prepare and organize surveying equipment and materials
• Carry and maintain surveying instruments, tripods, stakes, rods, and other field equipment
• Follow instructions provided by the Survey Party Chief
• Report field issues, questions, or equipment concerns to the appropriate team member
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
• Follow company procedures and all applicable health and safety requirements
• Perform other field-related duties as required

Requirements & Qualifications

• Legally eligible to work in Canada
• Strong willingness to learn and develop a career in land surveying
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Basic mathematical and problem-solving abilities
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a field team
• Previous experience with land surveying or construction is an asset, but not required
• Familiarity with basic computer applications is an asset
• Surveying, geomatics, engineering technology, or related education is an asset
• Valid driver’s license is an asset

Working Conditions

This position involves full-time outdoor field work in a variety of weather and site conditions. The successful candidate must be comfortable working outdoors and performing physically demanding tasks, including walking on uneven terrain and carrying surveying equipment and materials.

This is an entry-level position, and on-the-job training will be provided. Candidates with a strong work ethic and interest in developing their surveying skills are encouraged to apply.
